A brief history
In 2006, when the MAN Group was founded, UK manufacturing was suffering from the collapse of major manufacturers, including MG Rover, Peugeot’s Ryton Plant and Agco.
It was impeded by a lack of Government support and faced with increasing commercial pressures from low-cost rivals in Eastern Europe, the Far East and sub-continent.
The industry was lacking ambition and confidence. Founding members of the group had a common interest in tackling these notions and believed the answers lay within a collaborative approach.
Today, the group is collaborating to:
☉ Increase capability
☉ Retain existing work
☉ Win new orders
☉ Create added value
☉ Offer single source manufacturing
☉ Introduce collective marketing
☉ Bring innovative products to market
Ideally placed to support reshoring activities
The MAN Group is fully behind the growing desire to reshore, actively promoting it and exploring where it can deliver new competitive advantage.
Many OEMs have been stung by extended supply chains and damaging interruptions since the Covid-19 pandemic, and those in the UK are now feeling reticent to place work overseas.
MAN believe that the distinctive qualities of collaboration are key to making a success of reshoring activities, seeing first-hand just how powerful bringing the best of UK manufacturing, innovation, academia and various levels of the supply chain together can be.
New products to market
MAN’s wide and varied range of engineering capabilities and design expertise provides the perfect ingredients for companies and inventors looking to bring new products to market.
MAN can get involved in the early stages of an idea or pick up a design and manufacture it in the most cost-effective way possible, often succeeding where other companies have failed.
Customers can use one, two, three or all eight Manufacturing Assembly Network members depending on the scale of the brief and, the real beauty of what the group offer, is that it can add in new specialisms when required.
This means clients can access electronics, pressings, CNC machining, casting, injection moulding, forgings and a host of world class assembly lines – all overseen by Grove Design, one of the UK’s leading engineering design agencies.
Security of supply
Now more than ever, receiving your goods on time and to budget is absolutely critical.
Failure to get parts can stop an entire production line and, with the cold winds of Brexit and Covid-19 still being felt, we are already seeing the impact of global disruption affecting some of the world’s largest OEMs.
MAN, with access to 15 different factories and the purchasing power of a major international organisation, can be the trusted manufacturing partner you are looking for.
Over the last year, the group has seen a steady influx of contact wins for member firms that are taking on reshoring projects and this is due to a growing urge to shorten supply chains and UK manufacturers becoming ever more competitive against our international rivals.
The group has strength in numbers, pretty much every quality accreditation in the world and the best engineering minds of more than 750 staff, spanning eight different engineering disciplines.
Security of supply, MAN has you covered.
